Operation Occupation: Why we must scrutinise the workplace of far-right Islamophobes.
Published
In recent weeks, we have witnessed barbaric violence spill over in the streets of Britain. From playing keyboard warriors, Islamophobes have struggled to contain their inner prejudices against Muslims, and brutally attacked followers of the Islamic faith.
Soon after, a considerable number of rioters were jailed, charged and found their face splashed over all newspapers.
Understandably, most, if not all, are shown to be from a white, working-class background.
But alongside viewing these smug faces (search Kaine Hicks and Stuart Bolton), readers were able to view the sort of professions these thugs come from. And this makes for interesting reading.
Almost all convicted rioters do not come from a corporate background, a steady 9-5 role, or a job that can involve communicating with international clients. Besides the fact that you would need some academic qualifications to hold such roles, it doesn't appear that their previous roles cater for much interaction with other races outside their community.
To help us get a flavour of the types of jobs occupied by the convicted Islamophobes, let's take a look at some of these 'patriots'...
- Ricky Hardman, Rotherham, owns a Haulage company.
- Lee James, Southampton, Scaffolder.
- Curtis Coulson, Sheffield, Tarmacker.
- Kaine Hicks, Rotherham, Self-employed Construction Worker.
- Daniel Russell, Bristol, Ground Worker.
- Stuart Bolton, Rotherham, runs a Groundworking business.
- Bill Pemberton, Rotherham, Painter and Decorator.
Amongst the large number that have not made this repulsive list, we see those with 'no fixed abode', and thus unlikely to be within a stable job.
So what does this tell us? Well, we can certainly establish that academia has not been part of their lives.
In fact, it's not part of anyone's life (even migrants) until they push through the pain barrier, and hit the books. It's called hard work, but this workshy lot wouldn't know that.
As such, many rioters have limited life skills, have struggled to make ends meet.
Even with the individuals owning a company, a quick look at Companies House demonstrate discrepancies with their finances. Their 'company' seems to be fledgling at best.
And so a lack of education, coupled with a sense of entitlement, means many rioters have been on the losing end for a number of years. But rather than look inwardly and acquire new skills, our far-right 'champions' have sought a scapegoat, and that is - you guessed it, brown-faced Muslims.
There's no shortage of excuses for this intellectually-challenged group too which recent newspaper coverage highlights. From 'hardworking family man', to 'leaving behind a partner in tears', and 'elderly mother needing care' all springs to life.
The impression being given is their extreme actions during this period was all on a whim. UK rags will have you believe these violent thugs were simply 'having a bad day', and it's not a true representation of who they were.
However, their little bubble, be it online or offline, suggests these individuals merrily surrounded themselves with other fascists and Islamophobes. They were attached to the views belched out on the streets of Britain such as, "Who the f*** is Allah?"
So if the 'family man' is whisked off to jail and is going to miss his child's first birthday, we shouldn't give two hoots about this. The fact remains that had the police not prevented rioters from entering the house of Allah, if anti-fascist protesters hadn't taken to the streets, they would have happily clubbed Muslims to death.
But for some, justice has been served. The rioters have been locked up and we can draw a line under the whole experience. Wrong.
Sadly, the deterrents for these violent extremists don't hold much weight. Jailtime of around one year may seem little in exchange a lifetime of perceived heroism.
How so? Many of these lunatics are still viewed as heroes, perhaps even true English soldiers, serving time for their country.
A recent Gofundme page confirms this. Convicted rioter, Dominic Capaldi, responsible for throwing bricks at the police received over £3,000 before the platform rightly removed this fundraiser.
Local friends of these criminals are likely to include colleagues and employers. As you can expect them to share the same views e.g. "Migrants Out!", it's also likely that these convicts will find their job waiting for them once they serve their time. Not only that, you can imagine there would be a grand 'Welcome Back!' party, and free drinks for this convict for the next month!
Perhaps this is the consoling thought for them too...
'If I conduct these acts of violence, so what? I'll get a bit of jailtime, but my respect levels will go through the roof', or
'People will remember that I took a stand against these Muslims.'
It is this local hero status gift-wrapped to violent fascists that we need to challenge. For many decades within the UK, white working-class males are able to go on a bloodthirsty rampage, because the factors of dissuasion are weak.
Compare this with someone working in the corporate field. If someone was even suspected of harboring racist and Islamophobic views e.g. via their social media posts, it's expected (and rightly so) that HR would hold a series of meetings with this individual.
Do they pose a danger to their colleagues or clients? Are they aware of the importance of inclusivity and tolerance? Will they be able to represent the organisation in a professional conduct?
These are vital questions which a company will want responses for.
If the answer is 'no' to any of the above questions, it's likely that they will lose their job, and perhaps even be sent to prison. Subsequently, this would almost certainly mean losing their career, acquiring a criminal record, and any credibility within their industry.
As mentioned earlier, racist rioters conversely, will not face such scrutiny, as their employer is likely to be a close mate.
So how can things change?
Firstly, we hold these employers accomodating convicted rioters to account.
Full names, addresses and pictures can be found across newspapers nationwide so it's easy to recognise them.
If they're working locally again following their release from prison, questions should be put to local firms as to why that is the case.
Why do you have a convicted criminal working at your company?
Do you (as a company) share the same bigoted views as your employee?
How can you guarantee our safety if we offer you work e.g. decorating our living room?
And Muslims that offer business to these fanatics, need to seriously question their own faith.
Some of the rioters were seen spewing, "Allah is a pae**!", and "Who the f*** is Allah?"
Unless the convicts denounce their Islamophobic comments, it's outrageous for Muslims to give any of these knuckleheads a job after these blasphemous comments.
As they proclaim, "there's too many migrants in this country". With that in mind, there's plenty of other scaffolders and groundworkers to choose from. Hire a migrant instead, and give these thugs a wide berth.
For those businesses that don't give a monkeys about your concerns, their customers and other stakeholders, remember that local traders live and die by their reviews.
If companies insist on hiring their convicted buddy, then leaving a review is imperative. Google reviews, Trustpilot, Checkatrade are just a few companies where authentic reviews can be found. More importantly, it's a chance for you to hit 'em where it hurts.
A small sample of damaging reviews to a local company or self-employed tradesmen could be fatal to their livelihood.
Until now, many 'patriots' have felt secure behind their trade, using it as a crutch to lean on whilst spewing anti-Muslim rhetoric.
The message to 'patriots' is clear: Behave yourselves, or you can kiss your freedom AND trade goodbye.
